The jailed ex-boyfriend of a Texas woman whose charred remains were found along with her male friend’s in a burn pit in Oklahoma was named a possible person of interest in another woman’s 2009 disappearance, according to reports.

KCEN reported that Minnesota police are investigating Cedric Marks, 44, as a person of interest in the unsolved 2009 disappearance of April Pease. Marks and Pease reportedly had a son together and were in a bitter custody dispute in Washington when Pease vanished.

According to KWTX, Marks was arrested in Michigan on January 8 for allegedly burglarizing ex-girlfriend Jenna Scott’s home in late August. The alleged incident reportedly occurred six days after Scott, 28, unsuccessfully sought to obtain a permanent protective order against Marks.

Scott, along with Michael Swearingin, 32, were last heard from on January 4 at 3 a.m. The car they were last seen in was found in Austin the following day. The Temple Daily Telegram reported authorities in Oklahoma announced Friday that a homicide investigation was underway as remains were located in rural Okufuskee County. They confirmed Tuesday that the remains belonged to the missing pair.

KCEN reported that Pease won temporary custody of her son as the judge felt her living situation was more stable. Court filings obtained by the station characterized Marks as being in “complete denial that he has issues around domestic violence.” As a result, the court ordered Marks to undergo a domestic violence assessment and a psychosexual evaluation.

Pease was reportedly last seen on March 17, 2009, in Bloomington, Minnesota. Days later, the court awarded temporary custody of their son to Marks.

It’s currently unclear how Scott and Sweargin died. Moreover, Marks hasn’t been charged in connection with Scott’s death or Pease’s disappearance.

Marks is currently awaiting his extradition to Michigan. Meanwhile, KCEN reported that Marks’ current wife, Ginell McDonough, was arrested for harboring felons while his girlfriend, Maya Maxwell, was arrested for tampering with evidence.

KXAN reported that McDonough is accused of allowing Marks to stay in her home from January 5 through 8 despite knowing he had an open warrant in Texas. Moreover, an arrest warrant obtained by KWTX accused Maxwell of being “involved with leaving Swearingin’s vehicle in Austin in hopes to conceal it from law enforcement.”

Both women were ordered to remain jailed during a Wednesday court hearing.
